The Hornby Trust Scholarship, hosted by the University of Exeter in the UK, is a fully funded opportunity designed to build capacity for English language teaching in low- and middle-income countries, with entry in September 2027.
Requirements
- Be a resident of, and work in, a low or middle income country as included in the OECD DAC list.
- Have a minimum of three years’ full time TESOL teaching or related professional experience after your first degree.
- Hold an undergraduate degree (with grades equivalent to UK upper 2nd class honours or higher) or a relevant postgraduate degree.
- First submit a normal postgraduate application to the University of Exeter for the MEd TESOL programme and receive an Exeter student number.
- Only after obtaining an Exeter student number, submit your application for a Hornby Scholarship, including this number.

Deadline: November 22, 2026
To apply, first complete the University of Exeter application form for admission to the MEd TESOL programme to obtain an Exeter student number. Then, complete the Hornby Scholarship application form, ensuring you include your Exeter student number.
